There’s this class called Ethics…
Basically, let’s jumble every controversial topic you could possibly think of and try to teach objectivity to young adults who have clearly already formed their opinions about said topics. It’s the overall fluster cuck of the so-called “educational experience” that every college student must deal with.
I don’t care that some old guy once thought the same things I’m thinking, or that another fella thought “yadda yadda” about abortion. I still feel the way I feel and I’m aware that someone (most likely multiple people) have had these same personal stances as I have. My opinion isn’t new. BUT- don’t tell me to write a paper and accredit these old farts for thinking then what I’m thinking now. They don’t have copyrights on their ideas just as I don’t have legal ownership of mine. The whole concept is ridiculous.
Personally, I get it. The purpose of the class is not to change your mind or even educate you about these topics; the purpose is to primarily teach us to have a stance and support it- secondarily, facilitate needless spending on a class with relatively small purpose. Well done, UNL. Well done.
